Sunday walk.
Ended the week with a quiet early morning walk up the Hamble River from Warsash to Burseldon.
More Barn Owls.
Another Dawn start to look for the local Barn Owls, lover light today but a pair of birds spotted.

Fire.
In the New Forest, Forestry England conducts controlled burning of heather and gorse. This helps maintain and enhance heartland habitats. It promotes biodiversity and reduces wildfire risk.
Bugs life!
Stonechats mainly eat insects, but they also eat seeds and fruits, especially in the colder periods when insects are scarce.
As you can see in my pictures, there were plenty of insects about today!
Barn Owl.
Up at dawn for a walk along a footpath part of the South Downs Way this morning. Delighted to see a Barn Owl hunting in the morning light.

Three Lights.
Over time, three lighthouses have been built on Portland Bill headland. The original two short lighthouses were built in 1716. They worked together as a pair, and had coal-fired lights, and were said to be unreliable. They were replaced in 1906 by the current red and white striped one. All three lighthouses are still standing.
