Spring is in the air.

The snipe is a medium-sized wader, they are found in marshes, wet grassland and on moorlands, they use their long, probing bill to find insects, earthworms and crustaceans in the mud. There were a good number of Snipe at Titchfield Haven this morning.

The Snipe is another bird that is so camouflaged that it blends very well into its habitat. They are often invisible until they move. There are 3 birds in the picture below I only saw 1 when I took the picture.

Nice to see a Spoonbill at Titchfield Haven this morning perhaps one from the group of 12 I saw at Pennington Marshes a few weeks ago blown of course in last night’s storm.

A group of Gadwall take off.

The King of the fishermen? I spent a few hours this morning watching this female Kingfisher. The female bird is identified by her orange lower mandible. She was feeding on many small Sticklebacks.

Stonechats at Titchfield Haven this morning the colours are now muted as winter is here.

A muddy walk along the Titchfield Canal. The canal is a two-mile watercourse between the village of Titchfield and the coast at Titchfield Haven. Starting at the sea I quite like the wall art that had appeared on the back of the toilet block. In my view one up on some of the so-called tags which are appearing everywhere and I am told is art.

A few of the birds I spotted along the route.

A Robin heron and Blackbird.
