Tufted Duck. Smaller than a mallard. The numbers of these diving ducks increase in the UK in winter because of birds moving to the UK from Iceland and northern Europe.
These are male ducks the females are chocolate brown in colour.

We have a small duck like this without the tuff that frequents Arkansas in the winter. They are great little divers. Enjoyed seeing your pictures.

Their blue bills against dark head and chest feathers is really eye-catching. As are their piercing yellow eyes.
