Looks a lot like the U.S. Corsairs of WWII. My father flew them, landed them on an aircraft carrier in training. I got to see one up close at an exhibit a few years ago, parked on a tarmac with wings folded up like it would be stored on an aircraft carrier. I instantly knew why my father so enjoyed flying them. They’re so… muscular. I can imagine it was similar for the pilots of the Spitfire. So great that the one you saw is still flying. Living history.

We are lucky they have a small flight school for Spitfires traing at Solent airport.
