Looks very similar to Rose Creek where I capture most of my bird photos. The bridge, the underpass, the paintings … of course, I haven’t been there since my bike was stolen last summer.
Rose Creek is an urban green zone that is undiscovered by most people. It is part of the intercoastal bikeway so it is well known to bicycle enthusiasts.
You’re so right about the natural beauty that is often hidden within urban areas. Sherry Felix lives in New York City but she posts lots of images showing the natural beauty of the surrounding area. When I think of New York City, I think of skyscrapers and the Statue of Liberty, but Sherry does a great job at showing the preserved rustic beauty that is unknown to the rest of us.
I have an electric bike that does not work. It’s been in the shop for repairs but it may never run again. In any case, San Diego has banned E-bikes on the bike paths.
If I may vent for a moment — a couple of years ago, the city allowed the permitting of electric scooters. The local treasury collected millions of dollars in taxes and fees, but no one thought about the consequences.
In a short while, there were three scooter companies that flooded the sidewalks and streets with hundreds of scooters.
The speed limit on the bike path is 8mph (12.876kph). I always rode my bike below the speed limit. Scooters were passing me by at 25mph. They weaved through pedestrians like orange cones on an obstacle course. There were serious injuries and some people died.
Local police said that the problem had gotten out of control and was unenforceable. The obvious and sensible solution would have been to enforce the 8mph speed limit.
But we’re dealing with incompetent government officials. Their solution was to simply ban all electric modes of transportation.
Of course, this didn’t address the competitive cyclists who command the bike path as if it were a leg of the Tour de France.
The police nabbed me several times. In each case, I was riding below the speed limit — but it didn’t matter. The people who rule over us have a disturbing lack of common sense.
I did purchase another E-bike with a stealthier build. Hopefully, it will fly under the radar and not attract the attention of law enforcement. I took a short ride on Saturday, and another ride this morning. Rose Creek is about five miles (8.04672km) away so I’ll try to go further each time.
I think it’s funny that the greenies want to force everyone into electric vehicles. They divert millions of gas tax revenue into building bike paths — but then ban electric bikes.

It is sometime amazing what birds and wildlife you can see around urban areas. Will you replace your bike David?

I like what Reagan once said,
“Government is best that governs least.”

Not sure if it is an official mural or someone just having fun with spray can

I see – they do that here too Andy, but most of it is nonsensical, not “artistic”.
