On the South Devon coast is a small smugglers’ cove with a shingle beach nestled beneath Beer head. A small beach-launched fishing fleet operates and sells fresh fish in a small shop just above the high water mark.

Because it’s a place and not a beverage. Beer Head or Beer beach is a location and not something you drink. Now, if there is a beach ban on alcohol — like where I live — then you certainly can’t drink beer on Beer beach.
