Looking like a UFO or some structure from another world this mysterious-looking structure on Burry Port beach revealed itself in 2018, after a period of bad weather and storms which caused coastal erosion at the site of an old power station. It is actually the base of an experimental wind turbine left behind from the 1980s and 1990s.

You’re in Burry Port! That’s where my family is mostly from and I have spent a lot of time over the years. However – I have never seen that structure before and will go and search it out next time I’m there. Thanks!

We had a few days camping last week if walk from the lifeboat at Bury Port to the left when looking out to sea you can’t miss it.

Strange it just shows up like that … like that ghost ship I saw on a weather site. It showed up, no bodies, crashing about in the waves after a storm. It was a huge freighter – how does it go missing?
