Lots of frogs if they hatch and become pollywogs/tadpoles … I grew up calling them pollywogs. It’s so early for all these pond happenings, new life, etc.
I thought it originated in England to be honest – I had never heard of tadpoles before moving to the U.S. … come to think of it, I never saw a tadpole after moving here. We had a small creek at the end of our street which they were developing into a mall, just as we were moving here. I’d catch them with my friends in big jars and my mom threatened “when they get legs, they go back to the creek!”
If there is a cold spell and the pond freezes, will the spawn survive I wonder?

My understanding Wayne is the ones under the ice will be OK but ones on the top may not.

Mums ruled the roost in those days … they were not going to see frogs hopping around. 🙂 Hope that gave you a fond memory of your late Mum.
