Avocet families at Titchfield Haven National Nature Reserve. Parent birds chase off anything that gets too close to their chicks, including other Avocets. Yet, the chicks wander far from mum and dad. This makes them fairly easy targets for predators like large gulls and Marsh Harriers.

Wow! Well the chick looked at first like it was “talking back” to the parent after a scolding for not staying close, but notice how quiet it was as the fight transpired. (“Mom was right after all.”)

The babies are just chilling and wondering what the adults are fussing about! Great photos. The babies are so adorable and their breaks long and skinny on their small bodies.
