Garden Spider.
Garden spiders are the most common orb-web spiders in the UK. I start seeing small ones in our garden in late summer as the season moves into autumn, the spiders mature, and by late autumn, they are at their largest (approximately 13cm). Orb webs are spiral wheel-shaped webs.

I didn’t like spiders before, but magnified on the screen like that, I detest them even more. 🙂 I had a huge one over my front garden a few weeks ago – the rain and wind tore that huge web down, but of course, now he is at large in the bushes somewhere.

I knew this post would be one you would enjoy in a different way. 😉

You are right Andy! It is easier to admire them and marvel at their webs on the computer screen, or behind a glass. At the Science Museum portion of the Smithsonian Museums, I remember tapping bravely on the glass of the terrarium where the tarantula lived. That’s as close to a spider that large I hope to ever come. 🙂
