How sad – is this a new round of avian flu Titchfield Haven is dealing with Andy? We had a very severe bout of West Nile Virus in the mid-80s. I remember my mother and I returned from a long weekend in Toronto with my grandmother and it was warm, so I went into the background to water and fill the birdbath and found dead Cardinals and Blue Jays in the backyard, at least a dozen of them and we were to call the DNR (Department of Natural Resources) to report it and have them take the bodies away to analyze. They all came back positive for West Nile Virus, but what a disturbing site to see as a bird lover.
The UK has had avian flu outbreak over the last couple of years but here on the south coast we seemed to have missed it but it has sadly Linda it has struck us this year.
That’s really too bad Andy. Our avian outbreaks now are not so much birds at birdfeeders but geese and other waterfowl mostly, but not in all areas. What next?

that is sad Andy! If we saw the millions of domesticated chickens that were killed on purpose we probably wouldn’t eat chicken again!
