Now the sun is out Dragonflies and Damselflies are starting to fly.
Four-Spotted Chaser.

Four-Spotted Chaser. This Dragonfly has emerged deformed and missing one wing.

The Chaser below is deformed and missing 1 wing.

Azure Damselfly pair mating.

Hairy Dragonfly.

Banded Demoiselle.

I wonder if their wings might have been eaten? They still seem to be doing OK, fortunately.

you mentioned the word “deformed” Andy. I wonder If this deformation occurred because of contamination in the environment?

Excellent shots, Andy! Perching dragonflies can assess whether something flying by is suitible prey in 1/500th of a second. Time is different for them than it is for us.
