I recently heard about the ancient tradition of fishermen using trained cormorants to catch fish. They’re not really “trained”. The fisherman ties a leash around the bird’s neck. The bird dives, catches the fish, but is unable to swallow it. The fisherman pulls in the bird which then regurgitates the fish.
Very different method to say the least, although it recognizes that cormorants are skilled at catching fish.
