Has it gone too far? In the “old days,” you could tweak your pictures in the darkroom. Then came digital, and I used Photoshop to edit my pictures – crop and adjust exposure, etc.
Today, on a long walk in the New Forest, we spooked a Fallow Deer doe with her fawn. They hopped out of the dense Bracken stop and had a good look at us before heading back into the undergrowth.
I took a series of pictures, but the deer were obscured in the foreground by the undergrowth.
Now with A1-supported photo editing, you can go further. I ran one of my pictures through a trial editing package.
I asked it to sharpen, de-noise, and remove the foliage from one of my pictures. This is the result, but I have to ask: is this acceptable, or is it a step too far in wildlife photography?

If your aim is photography, it’s a step too far. Part of the attraction of wildlife photography is that it’s hard. AI processing of this kind is illustration. It’s no longer making photographs.

Thanks for your comment Bob. My aim is to enjoy watching wildlife and recording what I see. If good enough or acceptable enough I post some pictures on my blog. Watching the deer today there was a choice move to the left to get a clearer view and risk spooking them to get the best shot. With AI editing I cleaned up the best shot I could get. I have started to question pictures I see on line – is that real or A1.

I do like the denoise option in Lightroom – how it corrects images shot at up to ISO 12800 is quite often quite remarkable. I almost exclusively shoot with auto ISO these days.
I’ll probably begin shopping around for another app though. Adobe has gotten too expensive. Any suggestions?

Most my edits are just deniose.& crop. I use something my brother has which was a one off fee but no updates. Can’t recall at moment. Problem is they all getting expensive and, want card details for their “free” trials.
